Acupuncture at home
The treatment room is your living room.
Cara brings a portable treatment table, fresh linens, and sterile single-use needles to your home anywhere in Nassau and Suffolk counties. You need a quiet room with space for the table, or simply a bed or recliner if that is more comfortable.
No drive home
Acupuncture leaves most people deeply relaxed. In a clinic, that lasts until you find your keys. At home, it lasts as long as you let it.
You are already comfortable
Familiar light, your own blanket, the dog asleep in the corner. For anxious patients, people in pain, and anyone recovering from surgery or illness, being at home lowers the baseline before a single needle is placed.
Time is unhurried
A home visit runs on your schedule, not a waiting room's. There is time to talk before treatment, time to rest during it, and time afterward to ask questions.
The story behind the name
The name is a play on two words. Pointe is the ballet technique of dancing on the very tips of the toes, which Cara spent twenty years refining on stage. A turning point is the moment a life changes direction. For Cara, that was leaving performance for medicine. For many patients, it is the first visit. Read her dance story.

Meet Cara
Trained in New York City. At home on Long Island.
Cara Robino earned her Doctor of Acupuncture from Pacific College of Health and Science in New York City. She completed her master's degree there when the school was still Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, graduating with the Lhasa OMS Valedictorian Award for Acupuncture.
She works in multidisciplinary practices alongside physicians, nurses, physical therapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists. Her clinical internships were at Columbia University, Housing Works, and Kamwo's Grand Meridian Clinic in New York City, and in 2019 she attended the Society for Acupuncture Research conference on a student researcher scholarship. In 2023, MSK WellCare in Huntington, where she has practiced, shared the Best Acupuncturist title in the Best of Long Island readers' poll, with Cara named in the listing.
Cara was selected for the inaugural cohort of GLO-IMPACT, a Society for Acupuncture Research program built on Memorial Sloan Kettering's training in acupuncture for people in cancer care, and is on file with Memorial Sloan Kettering as a practitioner trained in this therapy. She is certified in dry needling and microneedling, and is CPR certified.
Every visit is with Cara, and treatment is tailored to your health history, goals, and response to care. Away from practice, she spends time with her husband and two sons, and loves to travel, hike, and cycle.

What space do I need at home?

Do I need to choose a treatment?
No. Cara will discuss an approach based on your health history and goals, explain the proposed techniques, and answer your questions before treatment.
How long should I allow?
Visit length is confirmed before you book. Tell Cara whether you are asking about a first appointment or a follow-up, and she will explain what to expect and how much time to set aside.
Where are my forms, receipts, and messages?
Current patients use the Jane patient portal for intake forms, receipts and payments, shared documents, and secure messages with Cara. Cara sets up your account after your first conversation, and appointments are still arranged directly with her.
What about my usual medical care?
Acupuncture complements, but does not replace, care from your physician. New York requires acupuncturists to advise patients about the importance of consulting a licensed physician and to document that advice in the patient paperwork.
